Hobbies and interests are important in life for lots of different reasons!

They support our emotional and physical well-being.  
They bring joy and allow you to develop new skills and acquire knowledge. 
They help to relax and take your mind off everyday stresses of work and responsibilities.  
Hobbies teach patience as you have to learn to develop the skills.  
They also help to develop friendships as they allow you to meet other people with similar interests.   
Hobbies increase confidence and self-esteem.  
They reduce boredom as you spend time doing activities you enjoy.  
 
There are lots of different hobbies that exist and the best way to get a new hobby is to try them out! Everyone is unique and because of this, hobbies and interests vary.  

Hobbies give you a chance to meet new people, discover new passions, develop skills outside of school, and do something all teens should do: have fun.

A parent of teenage development is becoming more independent from our family. Hobbies are a great way for teens to form an identity outside their family. Hobbies that take place after school hours can be even better as they dive you a chance to have experiences separate from school and teachers. forge their own path outside of the watchful eye of parents and teachers.

Most adults know developing an identity takes trial and error: you try one thing, you don’t like it, so you try another. The teenage years are the perfect time to start this process.
