Celebrating Carers Week – 10th – 16th June 2019
Fife Health & Social Care Partnership, Fife Carers Centre, Fife Young Carers and their partners are inviting carers, services, schools and businesses to come together during Carers Week and celebrate the vital contribution made by carers.
It’s important our community recognises the contribution of unpaid carers in Fife. Together we have planned a series of events to recognise and celebrate carers, and to provide information about what support is available.
This year we proudly celebrate Carers Week’s 25th anniversary. In Fife we have planned a variety of events which carers are welcome to participate in:
Monday 10th June: Fife Young Carers in Lochgelly will be hosting networking high tea for professionals and people interested in supporting young carers. We have information stalls at Fife College across the week to support our young adult carers.
Monday 10th June: We will be supporting the Sporting Memories launch event in Burntisland. Sporting Memories support people with dementia, and their carers and promotes the power of sport being used to re-connect people who are isolated. It is an established event run by Gary Waddell.
Tuesday 11th June: We will be attending the local Wells in Dunfermline, Levenmouth, Cowdenbeath, South West Fife and North East Fife to support Carers with information and advice. For info on wells: www.fifehealthandsocialcare.org/the-well/We will also host a stall at Dunfermline Fife College campus with support from staff and students.
Wednesday 12th June: We will host the first Fife Carers Gathering - 1pm at The Strathern Hotel in Kirkcaldy. This will be an opportunity for carers to come together to learn about the support that is available from carer organisations in Fife, to celebrate carers and network with others. It will also be an opportunity for third sector organisations to meet and talk about what they do.
Thursday 13th June: We will attend the locality Well in Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, once again to support Carers with information and advice. We will also host stalls at Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy Fife College with support from onsite staff and students.
Friday 14th June: We will host our final information stall at Levenmouth Fife College campus with support from onsite staff and student associations.
All week ‘Join out chain’ video – FYC. Link to be circulated for use via assembly in schools during carers week and school nursing team will also raise awareness through their health zones.
We will also be sharing stories on our web-site and via social media about the contribution unpaid carers make in Fife, supporting some of our most vulnerable people. If you have a story to tell about how you have been supported as a carer, please share it by e-mailing: CarersActSurvey@fife.gov.uk
